(17, NV, USA) Anonymous -Summertime

When I was about 6, my cousins and I were playing in the garage of my sister’s house. We would ride in circles on bicycles and scooters, then take turns seeing who was faster than who. The cousin who was closer to my age and I would always lose to her older siblings. But this day was different. I had recently gotten an electric scooter for my birthday and when I told her about it, we were overjoyed because we would finally win the 20 dollars our parents had promised us would be the prize. We ventured to the top of a steep hill in the Georgia summer heat and got ready to ride down. But suddenly, my scooter died at the top of the hill, we tried to work the electronic functions but they wouldn’t work. We thought we would lose again this time until my older cousins saw how distraught we were. They grabbed onto the pink electric scooter and told us to get on, they ran us down the hill as fast as they could and let go at the finish line so we could win. We were so happy we could barely contain our smiles. When we were given the prize money, our parents asked us what we would do with it and we said we wanted to share it. So the next day, we went to the gas station to get a bunch of candy with added money we had saved up. Our parents were so proud of us that day that they rewarded us with a trip to Dave and Busters! Team work makes the dream work, I suppose!
