(15, AZ, USA) Anonymous - So You Play The Violin?

I've played the violin for about 8 years now. Of course, I started off by playing the classics like Canon in D and 'The River Flows in You.' For a violinist, Canon in D is the 'Fur Elise' of the violin; it's a nuisance to play. My mother always made me play classical songs, and when guests came over, I would play a quick song that was slow and soft, which usually was never the mood. It's for that reason I never really felt connected to violin music. I enjoyed learning it and playing it, but the music—I did not like it. That was until one day I heard 'Roundtable Rival' by Lindsey Stirling. I loved it. I never liked country music, but playing that song made me feel like I was a cowboy in the wild west. Some people get lost in stories like books, but I learned to get lost in songs that made me feel like a pirate or an astronaut. That opened the door for me to play more types of music. I also don't like regional Mexican music, but when Peso Pluma played at the Grammys, the violins at the beginning struck me. I was shocked to see it was a Vivaldi piece incorporated into upbeat music. I learned to play it, and my cousins learned the guitar portion. The number of times we've been asked to play this at family meetings is uncountable. If you ask me today, I probably won't know how to play 'Clair de Lune,' but I could play you a song that will make you feel like the main character in a fantasy novel or like you're attending a super hyped pop concert.
