(13, IA, USA) Anonymous - Can Dreams Predict The Future?
“Can dreams predict the future?” is a question I’m sure almost everybody has thought about before. One time, I saw something that said dreams that you tell somebody about can’t come true. Every time I have a bad dream, I tell someone, but none of them had come true for a long time. Unfortunately, this method failed me about a month ago.
I’m here to tell you about my dream “predicting the future.” I had a pet. This was my first ever pet that was completely mine and not a family pet, so I felt like he was my baby. I’d prefer not to use his actual name, so I’ll be referring to him as just “my pet” throughout this so that it doesn’t get confusing.
I’ve had a few dreams where my pet is dead. Basically, I’d just see his dead body. I think I had these dreams because I was worried, as he was my first pet, and I didn’t want to mess it up.
On April 16th, I had a dream that my pet was dying. You may be thinking, “Oh, but you just said you’d had them before,” but that’d be wrong. I’d had dreams that he was dead, not dreams that he was dying.
In the dream, he was dying, and I was in denial. I thought it couldn’t be happening. I then begged my mom to bring him to the vet, and the dream ended. When I woke up, I was so relieved that it was fake. I even told my sister about the dream so that it wouldn’t come true.
On April 17th, my pet stopped eating, drinking, and would barely move. I was in denial; I thought he was just sick. I got a vet appointment for him for the next day. I should’ve spent more time with him that day, but I truly believed the vet would fix him.
On April 18th, I was watching his organs shut down but still thought he’d be alright. His vet appointment was just a few hours away when I watched him die. It was just like the dream; before the vet appointment, the dream had ended. In real life, of course, his life had ended.
I wasn’t even thinking about the dream on the days he was sick and dying, but looking back, I should’ve taken it as a sign. It is absolutely crazy looking back on it, seeing how similar they are. I’m not sure what caused me to have that dream. Was it a coincidence? Was it God? Was it my pet trying to warn me? Was it my subconscious knowing? I guess I’ll probably never know, but tell me, do you think dreams can predict the future?
